SEPTEMBER FAVORITES

Welcome to my September favorites! I want to start doing this every month to share my recent loves (and hopefully hear some of yours! ) Email me or send me a letter! I seriously can’t believe that September has come and gone so quickly. It feels like this month flew by and I’m sure the rest of the year will too. Anyways! Let’s start this favorites list with my favorite book: (it was supposed to be books, plural, but I’ve been in a reading slump this month)

  • The Case For Faith: I think this might be one of my favorite books of the year. I was going to get my suitcase out of my basement and I came across this book sitting out on the floor so of course I had to read it. This book has completely transformed my faith and would blow my mind with every turn of a page. This is the second of Lee Strobel’s books following, The Case For Christ (which is next on my list). The book answers tough questions about Christianity and is covered by former atheist Lee Strobel. The answers he finds are seriously life-changing. This is a book I completely recommend for everyone to read. You can get the book here!

MOVIES: (I have a Letterboxd account where I rate/review every movie I watch, it’s like Goodreads for movies! So if you want more movie recommendations check it out here)

  • Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: I’ve gone to the movie theater more in the past month than I have in a long time. I went and saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opening weekend with my brother and his girlfriend (we love a third-wheel moment). This movie was so fun to watch and very entertaining. It was slightly creepy but that’s as expected with any Tim Burton film. I love his creativity though and love his eye when it comes to lighting, colors, and framing. I haven’t seen Beetlejuice, so that’s next on my list but I gave this film a solid 4 stars!

  • Along Came Polly: With the fall season approaching, I’ve been loving my rom-coms a little more than usual. I’ve never seen Along Came Polly, and it’s been on my watchlist for a while so my mom and I decided to watch it the other night! This was such a cute movie, the perfect light and easy film to watch to unwind for the day. Plus, you know when Jennifer Anniston is in a rom-com, it’s going to be a good one.

  • Freaky Friday: I don’t know why but this movie always reminds me of fall. I think I used to watch it a lot as a kid so maybe that’s why? Anyways I just love this movie and recently watched it the other with a cup of tea and I suggest you should too.

  • Gilmore Girls: Obviously this isn’t a movie but you know it had to be mentioned. It’s peak Gilmore Girls season right now and this show has been making me feel SO COZY. I’m on season 6 right now - which is where I left off last fall! Team Logan!

PRODUCTS:

  • Ballet Flats: Okay I was the biggest ballet flats HATER. I don’t know if it’s because I took ballet for 13 years so I didn’t want to wear them for fashion??? But I’ve caved and bought my first pair of ballet flats. I got them off Amazon - Here. I seriously love them so much and I feel dumb sharing these as a monthly favorite but one of my goals for this fall was to start dressing cuter. I normally don’t get ready for my days when I’m at home because I’m just staying in - but I’ve found that I feel better when I’m wearing something I love! So ballet flats have been the perfect little piece to elevate my outfits and honestly, I just feel so cute and girly in them. I love my ballet flats.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Thrifting: I love to thrift my clothes way more than buying them new! So of course this was one of my September favorites ESPECIALLY because I loveeeee thrifting adorable sweaters and jackets for fall! I recently thrifted the cutest khaki jacket from Gap and then a brand new brown knit sweater from Lands End. Both had the tags on it! Such a good find that I get SO excited for.

  • Making Coffee at Home: If you know me, you know I love my coffee but I simply cannot make it to save my life. I don’t know why or what I’m doing wrong but it’s never easy. I just recently got a Nespresso machine and it’s changed the game for me! I linked everything I use for my coffee on my storefront, but making coffee at home has become one of my favorite parts of my day. There’s nothing I look forward to more.

  • Editing: I’ve been trying hard to upload at least once a week on YouTube! I did that this month, so I’m pretty proud of myself! If you know me, you know I love editing so it’s not a shock that this made it into my favorites for the month. With fall creeping in, I’ve had such a fun time editing and planning out future videos. Needless to say, I’ve loved creating this month and expressing myself through videos/editing.

RECIPES: (I’ve been trying to cook/bake more so this is fun)

  • Chai Sugar Cookies: I saw this recipe on TikTok (of course) so I was dying to try it out. I made it in my monthly reset vlog here! (The recipe is there too). Needless to say, I will 100% be making these again! They were SO simple and easy to make. I put on some Gilmore Girls in the background while I baked - so fun, so relaxing. I’ve been finding that baking/cooking has been therapeutic to me because it keeps me busy and off my phone. Cooking and baking truly requires your full attention, so if you’re anything like me and spend way too much time on your phone - start cooking or baking!

  • Pumpkin Spice Syrup: Another TikTok find (shocker). Shoutout Bry!! I actually found it from her! All you need to make this pumpkin spice syrup is: maple syrup, pumpkin puree (I used the pumpkin butter from Trader Joe’s), vanilla bean paste (I used vanilla extract), and pumpkin pie spice! Bry posted the full recipe here, but all you do is mix those and you have perfect-tasting pumpkin spice syrup. I’m drinking my pumpkin spice latte as I write this. It’s insanely good and I recommend you make this as soon as possible!

  • Chocolate Pumpkin Bread: Okay. This one was by FARRRR the best thing all month. Someone sent in a recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip bread, so my mom and I made it from scratch! I filmed it, you can watch it here! (The recipe is also in that vlog so you can try it too) I now have a dream of making a love letter cookbook, so please send me any and all recipes! Family recipes, your favorite cookie recipe - send me everything! I’ve been having so much fun lately learning to cook and bake and try new things!

MOMENTS: Ending this with my favorite moments from the month! A good way to reflect - you should do this too!

  • Time With My Family: This was the first month in a while that I didn’t travel. I’ve stayed consistent and at home this entire month (which I hate to admit I loved). Something I love about being home is being able to be surrounded by family every day. The relationship I have with my parents is something I will never take for granted. I truly have the BEST time whenever I’m with them - whether it be getting groceries, going to the gym, or the town fair - it’s a guaranteed good time. I thank God every day for my parents and the blessing it is to still be able to live with them. I know it can be tough some days - living at home in your 20s is something fairly difficult to navigate at times, but at the end of the day, it’s such a sweet season I know I’ll forever be thankful for.

  • Launching a new crewneck: It’s been an entire year since I’ve put out a new design for the Blog! It’s been a crazy year where I haven’t balanced work and life very well so I’m proud of myself for getting back into the swing of things! I’m enjoying work again and building this community with you guys has been my favorite part. You guys are so sweet, so supportive and so encouraging - it makes me feel very grateful! So coming out with a new crewneck design has been a highlight AND getting to see your cute faces wearing something I worked hard to create is such a blessing. I couldn’t do this without you guys SO THANK YOU! If you want to twin with me shop the new crewneck here!

  • Quiet Time: With being at home for a long period, I’ve had such sweet moments with the Lord alone. I feel like this past year I’ve been pretty go-go-go, and haven’t had a lot of quiet, alone time with the Lord. This month I’ve been able to spend so much time sitting in His presence, resting. I feel like I’ve been learning about Him and more about myself in this quiet season that I wouldn’t have been able to experience if I was somewhere else. If you’re in a similar season of isolation/rest let this be a reminder to you that the Lord is trying to teach you something so specific right now. What I’ve been learning is something that only this season could’ve taught me. Lean into where the Lord has you, and ask Him to teach you more about Himself and the purpose of this season. The Lord is so intentional, there’s no mistake in where He’s placed you!

Alright, that’s it for my September favorites! Write me a letter (or dm me) about what some of your favorites were for the month - or what this month taught you! It’s so important to do these little monthly check-ins with yourself and set goals for the month to come! See you in October with some new favorites!
